  1. Elizabeth

Halfway through a 180 mile hike, one of my Montem trekking poles was taken by someone else. Fortunately, one of my friends had a spare pole to lend me. Using two different brands at once, the disparity of quality was so evident that I was left with no question that Montem is a superior brand. In the future, I will be using Montem exclusively and recommend without hesitation.

We just returned from a week of hiking in the Salt Lake City area with one of our daughters. My wife and I used the Montem Folding Collapsible Trekking Poles and our daughter used the Montem Ultra Strong Hiking Trekking Poles. The poles all performed exceptionally through a week of challenging hikes over a variety of aggressive terrains! Strong, light and comfortable to use hour-after-hour.

The poles themselves are light and comfortable to hold. Quite impressed how much they have helped my walking as I suffer with arthritis in both hips.

If you have arthritis like I do, this is the walking stick for you. Looks great, not like an old man's cane.

  17. Mary T.

Excellent buy - lightweight but sturdy. Have abandoned my walking stick for one of these for general getting around as lighter and fold much more compactly!

  18. Johnston

    Rated 5 out of 5

Easily adjustable, lightweight poles. I had to readjust the them after I got moving To find a comfortable height for me. I found it easy to adapt my walk with these and my heart rate was higher with arm movement than when I walked without the poles. I'm happy I bought them.

The collapsible trekking poles were exactly what I was looking for. They are easy to assemble and fit in a suitcase for easy transport while traveling.

  24. Marc

Used to backpack with some older gentlemen and getting a pair of trekking poles was the best advice I ever took 10 years, 2 dicked-up ankles and 1 ACL reconstruction too late. Do yourself a favor. You won't be 23 forever. These poles are reasonably lightweight and can support my 230lbs plus a 40lb pack. I have full confidence in them.

  25. Carol

    Rated 5 out of 5

I've used these poles a couple of times while hiking in Zion and other places around there. Must say I do like the fact they fold up so small and they are light. So I had no problem with just keeping them in my daypack on each hike

  26. Quinten

    Rated 5 out of 5

As someone who's never used trekking poles and decided to buy a pair for this backpacking trip, I couldn't be happier. The price was right for the pair, they are durable, lightweight and give you confidence trekking down slippery, steep mountainous terrain

  27. Tonya Z.

    Rated 5 out of 5

Extremely light in the pack, very durable on the trail over steep rocks and crossing streams, and an easily collapsible system worked well for me. Grip felt great on the trail even through the rain. Very good value in these poles if you're searching for your first set.

I took these with me to Spain to hike part of the Camino, and they saved me on every terrain possible. Collapses down well. You need an additional tie if you want the three parts of one pole to remain neatly bundled, but I stuck them in the side pockets of my backpack, and that worked fine

  29. Jared

    Rated 5 out of 5

I did a whole bunch of research on poles before settling on these. I wanted something I could fit in check-in luggage. Great value and they are the absolute lightest on the market.

  30. Desmond

    Rated 5 out of 5

As light as a pole can get, and folds up into three sections to fit in even a small pack. I use these poles as approach poles for alpine climbs and love the convenience of being able to pack the poles away on the inside of a pack for climbing instead of having to strap them on the outside. The lock system is very sturdy, and there is no wiggle in the sections.

  31. Lala

    Rated 5 out of 5

I love these poles. lightweight, when folded they fit nicely in my backpack (inside the pocket where water bottle fits), easy to fold and adjust, nice design and solid, No blisters or sore hands... Great poles! (I'm not a trekking pole user, so, I've always borrowed (other brands) from friends when I needed them, but when i tried these i knew these were the most comfortable ones for me, so i purchased them! Very happy I did!!!

  32. Alisandra

    Rated 5 out of 5

I researched these poles online and then purchased them. They poles are well designed and well balanced. They two poles also fit easily in my bag. I am 5'9" and these are more than long enough and sturdy enough for a tall person like me. The poles are also unisex. They were easy and straight forward to use. The wrist straps on the top are adjustable and the foam handles are very comfortable.

  33. TB

    Rated 5 out of 5

I was surprised at the quality of these poles, especially considering the reasonable price. They are comfortable and the collapsible upper section grips without any slipping.

  34. AJ

    Rated 5 out of 5

I used these the very first weekend after I got them and they were great. They were very easy to figure out and adjust. Loved that they collapsed and fit into my backpack so I didn't have to carry them when the terrain didn't require them. The cork handles were comfortable and the straps were nice and soft. Would definitely recommend these for anyone interested in a solid set of trekking poles.

I bought 2 pair, one for my Mom who is recovering nicely from hip fracture with surgical repair who in now advanced to cane. She bought them with her to PT who was happy to guide her to use...my Mom's review the are so light weight, I love the comfort grip of the cork handles, and feel very stable with less limping". For myself, very pleased for most of reasons she reports. Highly recommend these walking sticks!

These poles fold up to 16", and fit nicely in my backpack. I've put over 300 miles on them so far, and couldn't be happier

These are great light weight poles. They are well constructed and I have used them a few times without any issues. They easily fit in my luggage and backpack. I took them on a trip to California and I had zero issues at the airport. These are a great buy.

  38. Alex

    Rated 5 out of 5

The first time I have used them was on my trip to Alaska. I took them up the mountain and I can honestly say that they probably stopped me from falling three to four times. This was such a good purchase and I would recommend them to anyone. I have now used them multiple times and they are still sturdy and the day I got them. The compactness of the trekking poles is also great and fit in my backpack.

  39. Bob

I've used lots of poles before - including Leki and Black Diamond. These are by far the best poles I've ever used! They're 1/2 the price, and have lasted longer

  41. Tony J

    Rated 4 out of 5

So Far So Good... If speed of shipment is anything to go by, I'd recommend the Montem Z-Poles. Ordered on Friday night, arrived on Monday - that's pretty fast. The poles look well constructed - good solid connections between the sections, the height adjustment works well - it remains to be soon how well the plastic clip-lock holds up but overall the build quality is high. I bought these because my Komperdell guide pole is too long to fit in the bag I'm taking on an upcoming trek. The length and the weight of the Z-Pole is 700g for the pair, and since I have an absolute weight limit of 15kg (which has to include 4-season sleeping bag, clothing, and DSLR) I'm prepared to sacrifice some of the guide pole features (like anti-shock) for length and weight. The only downside I can see is that the carbide tips are not replaceable - I don't expect to wear them out anytime soon if prior experience is anything to go by, but that feature would push the review to 5 stars. That said, I knew going in that the tips couldn't be replaced, so maybe it's not fair to ding the poles on that account.

They lasted me throughout my travels. I went to Africa, China, Vietnam, and Thailand. They've gotten over 1,000 miles and they're still going strong!

I purchased these folding poles to go hiking with my 30 pound backpack. These trekking poles are durable and very light. I used them this past weekend again with a 20 pound backpack and they had no issue offering stabilization. I experienced no lower back pain or soreness. I really like how they fold up and fit in my bag.

I just purchased these poles over the weekend, upgrading my old aluminum poles for the carbon poles. I took them on a hike on the Iron Mountain Trail here in San Diego. I was amazed at what a difference these poles had on my body. There were lots of ups and downs. But afterward, my back and knees did not bother me!! Usually, after walking a half mile, my back starts acting up. And I ended up doing 5 miles that day. I loved the soft grips too. It also absorbed the sweat as it was very humid out when I was hiking. My only "complaint" have I had some initial difficulty getting the baskets to stay on. Thought I had it, but during the hike one of them came off. But given how my back did not bother me during the hike - I may need to take these poles with me on easy going walks!

These trekking poles are just what I needed on those hikes in the Smokies. They are easy to adjust. The cork is comfortable for your hands and the straps make it easy to let go of them without fear of losing one. I find these very useful and helpful for my legs and stamina.

The poles collapse to a small enough size that they fit easily into a small suitcase or unobtrusively onto the back of a daypack.

  50. Janet

    Rated 5 out of 5

This is my first NICE pair of trekking poles. They easily break down (unlike my three cheaper pairs) and are relatively small once collapsed. The hand grips are very comfortable, and an improvement from the cheap hard plastic that rubbed sores into my hands on a 33-mile trip. The wrist fabric feels soft and luxurious, and easily adjustable. I like these so far, and no issues in less than 20 miles of hiking.

This is my first ever trekking pole pole purchase and I am so happy with them. They are so easy to pack in a backpack and really easy to unfold and securely lock. Montem trekking poles are definitely worth the money and three of my camping buddies have already bought a pair after seeing mine!
