Frequently Asked Questions

Montem specializes in high quality gear at an affordable price. With thousands of 5-star reviews, dozens of #1 rankings, and numerous awards, the verdict is in. Montem is better than the competition at 1/2 the price.

Montem poles have been unanimously ranked above primary trekking pole companies such as Black Diamond and Leki. How, you ask? No middle men, no mark ups, no hidden fees. We take pride in devoting our time, effort, and passion to designing the highest quality gear we can while doing everything in our power to keep the price down.

We do this by limiting marketing expenses, minimizing website costs. We DO NOT cut costs on the actual product, which is exactly why we've been called the premier pole on the market.

The design, functionality, and quality is stellar. Simply put, we keep our prices low by not wasting money on what "the other guys" do.

It's super easy! Simply adjust your arms so that they’re at a 90 degree angle while using your Montem Trekking Poles. When adjusting the height of the poles, make sure the number on the top segment of the pole is the same as the one on the bottom.

Flip open the clasp, then proceed to make 1/4 turn adjustments to the screw until you get the desired tension. The bolt should be tight enough that when you close the clasp the pole supports your weight without sliding.

Yes! To adjust the length of the strap pull the tension block out. Once the tension block is removed, you may pull the loose end to tighten the strap, or pull the upper end to loosen the strap.

Product Reviews

  1. Hillary

These Montem poles have about everything I was looking for. They are carbon fiber, and extremely light and the poles lock with a compression clamp instead of the internal twist lock.

  2. Jamaal

I am partial to Montem - I think they are so well made. These are very lightweight yet durable, and I love the speed lock adjustments. I have no complaints so far

  3. Micaela

I ordered the Montem trekking poles after reading some favorable reviews, and I have not been disappointed. They are well made and designed. I am looking forward to many years of long hikes!

  4. Justin

These Poles hold up really well. They support a good percentage of my weight without slipping down. The grips feel good and absorbed a good amount of my sweat. My only complaint would be that the locking mechanisms are some sort of plastic instead of metal. They seem flimsy, but despite that they still do just fine. Also they are very very light for cheaper poles!

  5. Geoffrey

Took them out for about 50 miles so far. They are strong yet light. Comfortable grips. Will be using them to pitch a tarp so the max length is a plus. Adjustments were simple - no instructions necessary just common sense. I am well over 250 and didn't experience any shortening when putting pressure on them to go downhill or off small rock drops. Did not hear any of the rattling others have mentioned. I'm pretty pleased with this purchase, especially for the price. I'd like to be able to replace work-out tips but if the tips last as long as they should I don't see it as a major drawback.

  6. Patty

Have not been out to use them yet, but they seem to be what I had in mind. They arrived right when they were supposed to.

  7. Byron R.

Good looking and comfortable poles, the locking system is far superior to the twist system. These poles save your legs over long distances.

  8. Bernard

Lightweight, comfortable in hands. Easy to adjust. Nice clips on the adjustments. Well marked for extensions. Strap material is great. Good Poles.

  9. Robin

Poles are exactly as described. I am very pleased with the quality at this price. I received an email from Montem immediately after they were delivered that described how to adjust them and maintain them. I followed the email and it worked just as described and was the proper fitting. That was a great touch of service. I am looking forward to putting them to the test.

  10. Garret

These things perform exactly as I need them to, and they feel solid even at their full extension. My knees and I are very pleased to have these along for longer hikes and backpacking trips.

Finally, an affordable carbon pole. Montem answers the most common gripe-price-with this sub-$80 offering that performs like it costs twice as much.
