Frequently Asked Questions

Montem specializes in high quality gear at an affordable price. With thousands of 5-star reviews, dozens of #1 rankings, and numerous awards, the verdict is in. Montem is better than the competition at 1/2 the price.

Montem poles have been unanimously ranked above primary trekking pole companies such as Black Diamond and Leki. How, you ask? No middle men, no mark ups, no hidden fees. We take pride in devoting our time, effort, and passion to designing the highest quality gear we can while doing everything in our power to keep the price down.

We do this by limiting marketing expenses, minimizing website costs. We DO NOT cut costs on the actual product, which is exactly why we've been called the premier pole on the market.

The design, functionality, and quality is stellar. Simply put, we keep our prices low by not wasting money on what "the other guys" do.

It's super easy! Simply adjust your arms so that they’re at a 90 degree angle while using your Montem Trekking Poles. When adjusting the height of the poles, make sure the number on the top segment of the pole is the same as the one on the bottom.

Flip open the clasp, then proceed to make 1/4 turn adjustments to the screw until you get the desired tension. The bolt should be tight enough that when you close the clasp the pole supports your weight without sliding.

Yes! To adjust the length of the strap pull the tension block out. Once the tension block is removed, you may pull the loose end to tighten the strap, or pull the upper end to loosen the strap.

Trail running is the intended purpose this June in a 50K. Running flats with the rubber tips is a joy, leaping and bounding over obstacles. With 12 inches of snow pack the snow tips allowed me to snow run the streets and curbs without crashing. Upright and sturdy! Running is more fun.

  2. Amy

Used these for a 2 day Inka Trail hike and they held up well. Collapsed nicely for storage and travel and no issues staying upright. Great product!

  3. Texas Gal

did a lot of research on Amazon and REI on trekking poles. I am just getting started hiking and have osteoarthritis so I need a bit of help going up and down hills. I didn't want to spend $100+ on Black Diamond poles if it turns out I can't do this because of the arthritis. I took these poles out this weekend for the first time and they were great. I watched a few videos on YouTube about how to use the poles and then off I went. They worked really well. I did take a fall because I was going down hill and the pole got wedged in-between some rocks and gravity did what it does and I went down. I thought for sure the pole would be bent. It wasn't and I was impressed. I'll be taking these with me on a trip to Sedona where they will be getting a good workout. Make sure you practice before a big trip because it does take a while to develop the correct way to work the poles opposite of each leg. My shoulders were a bit sore after my hike but I'm sure that will stop once I get used to using those muscles in a new way. I like that they come in different colors. I was a bit surprised to see that they weren't labeled "L" or "R" as some other poles. I did develop a blister on my right thumb but that is probably from user error.

  4. DUCKY

We got our Montem poles just in time for a big hike we we're planning and we so grateful. They made a huge difference in our agility and really held up. We ran into folks whose poles had broken on the trek. But we were confident we had the strongest poles out there and we sure to pass that on.

  5. Paleo Gourmet

Unbelievably great, easy to carry, easy to adjust and most importantly, they really work well. I will buy again to have multiple sets.

  6. Mama J

The price point was spot on, quality, comfort, ease of adjusting are exactly what I was looking for. I am a very satisfied customer.

  7. AbuelaLinda

I have had four different walking poles over the years and these are by far the best. They are lightweight, yet strong; easy to adjust, easy to pack in a suitcase. I highly recommend them. I have gone from being a hike leader to a senior citizen with balance issues. Now I use them for walking and traveling. Plus they are cool looking. I love the different colors.

  8. faye

Sturdy and compact. Hiking in Patagonia.

  9. Customer

Great product for the price, keep them tight and they will do their job.

  10. A C

Lightweight but sturdy. Bought these based on other reviews.

Finally, an affordable carbon pole. Montem answers the most common gripe-price-with this sub-$80 offering that performs like it costs twice as much.
